Centre for Infectious Disease Reagents (CIDR)
CIDR is an ISO 9001 certified repository which provides the scientific community with quality research reagents to support studies on infectious diseases. The CIDR catalogue is composed of a variety of reagents (viruses, cell lines, plasmids, proteins, peptides, antibodies) which have been deposited by third parties or produced in-house. These materials are supplied for research use only, under a Material Transfer Agreement (MTA) to protect any Intellectual Property and stipulate the terms of use.
Initially established in 1989 to support HIV research (as the Centre for AIDS Reagents; CFAR), CIDR has since expanded its remit to cover other infectious diseases, including viral hepatitis, malaria, tuberculosis and Covid19. While maintaining its historical catalogue, CIDR is now focusing on emerging pathogens, including Lassa virus, Nipah virus, Marburg virus, Ebola virus, MERS, Hantavirus, Chikungunya virus and Oropouche virus. Our objective is to support pandemic preparedness and the 100-day mission by facilitating access to key research reagents required for the development of vaccines, therapeutics and diagnostics.
We prioritise access to organisations in low- and middle-income countries.
If you are interested in depositing new reagents, please contact us at cidr@mhra.gov.uk to discuss further.
