Dr Sarah Gilbert
Sarah Gilbert began working at NIBSC in 1998 in the Centre for AIDS Reagents, first as a scientist and later as project manager.
Sarah has been the project manager for the repository for 13 years. Throughout this time she has accredited the repository to ISO9001. As a certified International Air Transport Association (IATA) shipper, she has significant expertise in the logistics of biological materials worldwide.
Sarah has a specific interest in facilitating the sharing of biological reagents between researchers in order to increase collaborative research opportunities. She is committed to protecting the intellectual property of reagent donors and has a good understanding of the legal aspects of reagent sharing.
Sarah is the project manager for the EC FP7 European Research Infrastructures for Poverty Related Disease (EURIPRED) consortium. The EURIPRED project is focused on increasing collaborative links between biobanks and researchers worldwide. It facilitates access to novel, non-commercially available reagents for poverty-related diseases such as:
- HIV
- TB
- Malaria
- Hepatitis B and C
Sarah works with 17 international partners to ensure the achievement of deliverables and milestones, as well as managing the scientific reporting and organisation of the project.
