Dr Elaine Gray
Dr Elaine Gray is a Principal Scientist with over 35 years of experience in control and standardisation of biological, specialising in haemostasis and thrombosis.
She worked at NIBSC as a pre-graduate student and completed her PhD at NIBSC also. Her current main responsibilities are batch control, standardisation and research and development in haemostasis and related areas. Dr Gray serves on many national and international committees both as Chair and as a member.
She has extensive expertise in the standardisation of blood products, being responsible for the production of World Health Organisation (WHO) and British standards for coagulation factors II, IX, X, XI; plasma coagulation inhibitors such as Antithrombin and protein C and antithrombotics such as unfractionated and low molecular weight heparin. She is one of NIBSC Genetic Reference Materials team producing reference materials for in vitro diagnosis of genetic disorders.
