John became a member of the Haemostasis section in 2004, initially working as a scientist involved in the control testing of coagulation factors. Since then John has become a senior scientist with responsibility for coagulation inhibitors and antithrombotic agents within the Haemostasis section. This includes control testing of therapeutic antithrombin products, and co-ordination of international multicentre studies to replace international standards such as low molecular weight heparin. He also has an interest in global coagulation assays, such as thrombin generation test and thromboelastography.
Currently, John is completing a part-time PhD through King’s College London investigating methods to assess the non-anticoagulant properties of heparin and heparin-like materials.
