Following the EU referendum NIBSC’s Director Dr Christian Schneider has said: “I would like to reassure our customers and collaborators that NIBSC’s mission and commitment to assuring the quality of biological medicines worldwide remains as strong as ever. NIBSC has made a major global contribution to public health over many decades through our provision of WHO International Standards and other reference materials, Official Control Authority Batch Release testing, and our translational research programme.“
The UK remains a member of the European Union at this time, and the referendum result has no immediate effect on NIBSC’s role. Over the coming months NIBSC, as part of the UK’s Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency, will consider with our European partners how NIBSC will continue to contribute globally to improving public health through the effective regulation of medicines, underpinned by science and research.
