Dr Adrian Bristow joined NIBSC in 1979 as a senior scientist in the Division of Endocrinology, and became Head of Division in 1994. In 2004 he became Head of Analytical Sciences, and in 2013 was also appointed as Head of Biotherapeutics. He retired in 2017 after 38 years at NIBSC. His research interests mainly focused on characterisation of the biological and physico-chemical properties of biological and biotechnological medicinal substances, as well as principles of Biological Standardisation.
